About Us

I got my start in dog sports when I was a teenager and my parents bought me a German Shepherd puppy. I took her to dog obedience classes, and that got me started in obedience trials.

Shortly after Tim and I got married, we bought a Standard Poodle puppy, and a couple of years later another. I put obedience titles on both of them, and showed the male in conformation. When the poodles were getting old, I decided it was time for another dog. We researched the Portuguese Water Dog, and bought our first girl (Splash) from Kathryn Braund in February of 1993 - thank you Kitty!

Since then, we have been involved in showing and breeding our Portuguese Water Dogs, we love them and can’t imagine life without them. All of our dogs live in the house with us and our puppies are all raised inside and underfoot.

In our breeding program we strive to produce pups that have outstanding temperaments, health, and structure. Here at Commocean we breed Portuguese Water Dog for quality not quantitiy, we have 1 to 2 litters per year.
